Job Description


The overall role is to ensure supply of materials to meet the production plan, taking into consideration contracts, batch sizes, inventory policies and storage capacity. The scope includes procurement of packaging materials and direct materials of a dedicated category and plants. The Materials Scheduler will also lead the relationship management activities with their suppliers, as they relate to operational or tactical processes.
Purchase Order Management
  • Create, release, submit and follow through of Purchase Orders to meet the demands of the production plan and Product Commercialization requirements for dedicated material categories and plants.
  • Review MRP suggestions and exception messages on a daily basis and activate materials/ingredients purchase, re-schedule and cancellation accordingly to support the production plan.
  • Ensure manufacturing requirements are met and inventory policy adhered to the 12 Plants in Europe, Africa and Asia.
  • Follow through and monitor inbound deliveries with Suppliers, Warehouse, 3PL and QSE to ensure materials are available in-time for production and meeting inventory guidelines.
  • Follow through and monitor inbound deliveries with suppliers’ warehouse, 3PL and QSE to expedite the activities leading to the receiving of inbound materials to support production usage and trials.
  • Revise delivery schedule in a timely manner to communicate changes either internally or externally driven (e.g. changes in customer priorities) to the relevant parties. Pull in or push out ingredients / packaging materials accordingly to ensure a healthy inventory situation.
  • Liaise with Plant Champion, Master Planner, Planning and Logistics Manager and team, Lab, Warehouse, Product Portfolio team, Formulations and Customer Services as appropriate.
  • Ensure Purchase Order closure and perform Invoice verification with Finance, as necessary.
  • Ownership of MRP II / SCE measures for area of responsibility.
  • Proactively manage Aging stock to mitigate the impact on P&L.
Materials Inventory Management
  • Purchase ingredients and materials in adherence to the inventory guidelines to support the production plan.
  • Support the Materials Review Board (MRB) process by ensuring inventory levels comply with company’s policy and write-off are minimized.
  • Proactively support mitigation of ingredients inventory at risk and coordinate effort in minimizing ingredient write-off.
Business Planning
  • Perform budget preparation of materials / ingredients requirement.
Supplier Management and Development
  • Develop existing suppliers by performing regular performance reviews on suppliers’ delivery and drive improvements.
Master Data maintenance
  • As part controller for purchased items in SAP, review and manage the Master Data and planning parameters in SAP or other planning system on a continuous basis to ensure good accurate and reliable information are exploded from MRP.
Complaint Handling
  • Manage supplier’s quality and performance by submitting non-compliance report and following through till closure.
  • Perform root-caused analysis with suppliers and internal parties and ensure corrective actions are in-placed and complete closure of issues.
Drive improvement initiatives
  • Ownership of MRP II / SCE measures for area of responsibility.
  • Proactively identify and drive improvements in business processes.

Qualification And Education Requirements
  • Min of 5years experience in Purchasing / Procurement function in food/ beverage processing or pharmaceutical manufacturing MNCs
  • Knowledge on Free Trade Agreement
  • MRPII or ERP knowledge
  • Supply Chain post-graduate studies APICS certification would be considered as an advantage
  • Quality systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 experience would be considered an advantage
  • Preference for candidates with good working knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in English
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) experience
